ANANTAPUR: The unexpected time-off facilitated by the Maoist bandh in the district, which evoked a partial response, to campaign teams of the Congress and the TDP on Monday, in the midst of electioneering for the Penukonda byelection, enabled the rival parties to assess the progress of their efforts so far and to draw up strategy for the last leg of campaigning. The Congress candidate, B. Sriramulu, and the influential leader, G. Bhanumati, remained at home and were busy discussing plans with party leaders and confidants. Ms. Bhanumati, who kept away from the campaigning for three days last week on "health grounds,'' has made it clear that she will go whole hog from now on. The Congress campaign spearheaded by the Minister for Panchayat Raj, J.C. Diwakar Reddy, has been designed section-oriented strategically to woo voters of chosen communities. Even leaders like P. Keshav, N. Kistappa, B.C. Govindappa, S. Suryanarayana and others, who were not on best of terms with Paritala when he was alive, have been actively campaigning for Ms. Sunita.
