WARANGAL: Officials had tough time when four patients threatened to commit suicide by jumping of an overhead tank at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Hospital premises here on Monday. Deepak of Warangal, G. Srinivas of Kothaguda mandal, Ravi of Duggondi mandal and Ganesh of Warangal had been urging doctors at the hospital to conduct open heart surgeries as they registered eight months ago. On Monday, they went to the district Collector, B.M. Ekka. Later, they approached the Resident Medical Officer, D. Vijayalakshmi. When she expressed her inability to help them, they climbed onto the tank and threatened to jump off. Revenue and police officials rushed to the spot as tension prevailed. They later assured patients of performing operations within one month. According to A.P. Chary of MGM Hospitals, the cardiac unit lacked infrastructure and manpower, and hence they were not able to perform operations.
