Moderation for SSLC students

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : Considering the changes in the SSLC examination system, the examination board has decided to give two marks moderation to all SSLC students who have not got A+ grade in all subjects as subjectivity correction factor. The board which met here on Monday decided to have the subjectivity correction factor in the SSLC examination for the coming two years too. The students who have appeared in the old scheme and not got group minimum marks and those who have not got group minimum and separate minimum have been classified into three. Those in the first category would get 27 marks as moderation and the other two groups 16 marks each. Those who have appeared for any one group would be given six marks moderation and those who are likely to lose second class, first class or first class with distinction for one mark would be given one mark as grace mark. — Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : The all-India entrance examination for admission to the MBA programme of ICFAI National College (INCAT-2005) will be held at Government Teachers' Training College, Thycaud, at 10 a.m. on May 29. for Thrissur

Thrissur: The Tourism Minister, K.C. Venugopal, announced here on Monday that a centre named `Koothambalam' would be set up in Thrissur at a cost of Rs.1 crore for the promotion of traditional arts and culture. Addressing the valedictory function of the Thrissur Pooram Exhibition, the Minister said Rs. 40 lakhs had been sanctioned for the beautification of Vadakkechira. — Staff Reporter

Futures trading

in tea soon

KOCHI: Futures trading in tea initiated by the United Planters' Association of Southern India (UPASI) is expected to be operational within a couple of months, said a spokesman for the Association here on Monday.

NC(I) reception to Murali

PATHANAMTHITTA: The National Congress (Indira) has organised a reception to the party president, K. Muraleedharan, in the town on Wednesday.

At a press conference here on Monday, the NC(I) district president, K. Sadasiva Panicker, said the party leaders M.A. John, Peethambara Kurup and N. Venugopal would address the public meeting.

Mr. Panicker claimed that no fewer than 3,000 of the 7,000 members of the Congress in the district had shifted their loyalty to the NC(I).

Protest staged

ALAPPUZHA: A hartal was observed in Kathikappally taluk in the district on Monday following a call by the CPI(M) in protest against the reluctance of coir yarn manufacturers to hike the wages of workers in the industry.
