HYDERABAD: The newly floated Andhra Pradesh MSO's Welfare Association has decided to black out Teja News and Aditya music channel throughout the State from Wednesday evening protesting against the `bulldozing tactics' of Gemini television network to `usurp their business'.
Gemini venture
The protest comes in the wake of Gemini Television entering the cable business by launching its own cable network, Gemini Cable Vision. At a press conference here on Monday, the Multi System Operators' association's convening committee members, P. Sai Baba, Ch. Rajasekhar and R.V.R. Chowdary, regional directors of Siticable, Hathway and In-Cable networks respectively, alleged that Gemini television network was pressurising cable service providers and operators to part with 51 per cent of their connections free of cost. "We painstakingly built up our business and Gemini network, riding on its popularity is trying to take over," they said.
No response
The blackout decision was taken, as there was no response from Gemini network to a representation on the matter submitted by the association. There are about 25,000 cable service providers in the State.
