Decline in rupee
MUMBAI:
The rupee declined sharply on Tuesday against the U.S. currency due to hectic dollar demand on the back of a robust dollar overseas with sentiment turning weak due to rising global oil prices and possible month-end pressures. In slightly nervous but erratic trading at the interbank foreign exchange the rupee closed at 43.5100/5150 a dollar, steeply lower from last Friday's finish of 43.4550/4650 following a weaker opening slot of 43.5225/5325.
