Zarqawi "injured"

CAIRO: The militant group Al-Qaeda in Iraq said in a statement published on an Internet Web site on Tuesday that its leader in Iraq Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was injured and called on Muslims to pray for his recovery.

The statement's authenticity could not be verified, but it was posted on a Web site known for its militant content.

The statement, posted by the group's media coordinator, Abu Maysarah al-Iraqi, did not say how or when Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was injured. Al-Iraqi is known to be the group's media coordinator, but there was no way to confirm if he had posted the statement himself. — AP
