ALAPPUZHA: The CPI leader, Binoy Viswam, has said that infighting in the Congress and the UDF was the main threat to the overall development of the State.
`First of all, a Government which rules the State needs to possess credibility and it should provide political stability to the State to attract genuine investors,' said Mr. Viswam.
But the UDF Government lacked both, Mr. Viswam observed. The only thing done by the UDF Government in the last four years was to wash dirty linen in public, said Mr. Viswam. The crisis in the UDF had aggravated at present, noted Mr. Viswam. In the situation, genuine investors were backing out from the State, he said. Mr. Viswam further said that those who were being wooed by the State Government at present were not genuine investors.
Mr. Viswam challenged the Government to publish a White Paper on the financial status of the State at present? He said the public debt of the Government was at present Rs. 50,000 crores. The public debt was Rs. 24,000 crores only when the UDF Government assumed power in the last elections. Under the UDF rule, the capital investment in the State decreased while the public debt increased, noted Mr. Viswam. Mr. Viswam demanded that the Government issue a White Paper on the utilisation of Tsunami fund. He said the State Government should discuss all issues related to the Smart City project in the next meeting of the Assembly.
