PATHANAMTHITTA: The returning officer for the Congress organisational elections in Pathanamthitta district, V. Narayanan, has said that the elections to the 59 party mandalam committees have been completed and the remaining four mandalam committees would be elected in the next few days. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Narayanan said that the elections to nine of the 15 Congress block committees in the district have been completed following a consensus reached among the members present. However, the bock committee elections in Adoor, Chittar, Kallooppara, Pathanamthitta and Ezhumattoor will be completed in the next few days.
7775 effective members
Mr. Narayanan said that the Congress in the district have got a total of 7775 effective members showing that hardly 750 members have shifted their loyalty to the newly formed National Congress (Indira). Mr. Narayanan said that the formation of a new party by K. Karunakaran would never harm the Congress. ``Like myself who had returned to the Congress from the Tamil Manila Congress, I hope, Mr. Karunakaran too would return to the parent organisation in the near future itself," Mr. Narayanan said. Mr. Narayanan said that the elections to the Pathanamthitta District Congress Committee would be held on June 4. The DCC president, K. Sivadasan Nair, who also accompanied Mr. Narayanan, has said that the preparations for the DCC elections are under way. New KPCC members Meanwhile, the Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Adoor Prakash, P.J. Kurien, MP and the president of Thiruvalla East Cooperative Bank, K. Jayavarma, have been elected members of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee from Adoor, Kallooppara and Ezhumattoor respectively.
