NSS welcomes Antony's nomination

Staff Reporter

KOTTAYAM: The Nair Service Society (NSS) which had taken a firm stand behind A.K. Antony during his troubled days following his controversial statement on minorities has welcomed his nomination as the Rajya Sabha candidate of the Congress.

Speaking to The Hindu on Tuesday, the NSS assistant secretary, G. Sukumaran Nair, said the step taken by the Congress high command was timely and appropriate. According to him, the NSS had viewed Mr. Antony as a politician who could rise above narrow communal identity and would not give a communal colour to the nomination.
