The following were the prices (in rupees per kg) of essential commodities in the local wholesale market on Tuesday: Groundnut oil - 50, palmolein oil - 39, sunflower oil - 47, tamarind (flower variety) - 20 to 28, tamarind (karipuli variety) - 42 to 46, chillies (new) - 13 to 14, rice (2716) - 13, rice superfine - 15, Sona Masoori - 17 to 19, Samba Masoori 15 to17, black gram (pottu minapappu) -23 to 26, red gram (kandipappu) desavali - 23, Pandiripalem - 26, Nagpur 28. - Staff Reporter

House sites

demanded

The Krishna District Auto Workers' Union demanded the State Government to provide house sites and ration cards to eligible autorickshaw drivers. The Congress Government announced that white cards would be distributed keeping in view the municipal elections, said union general secretary, N CH Srinivas.

Cornea grafted

Eye specialist, Dr. P. Prabhakar Sastry, performed a cornea graft on Raavi Veeraraghavamma (60), from the eyes of Botta Jampareddi (81). Jampareddi's eyes were donated to the Swetcha Gora Eye Bank after he passed away on May 20. - Staff Reporter
