HYDERABAD: An international telephone call racket being operated allegedly by three gangs at Taj Enclave residential complex in Lakdikapool was busted by the Hyderabad Police Task Force (Central) team on Tuesday. Among the three arrested persons was Ramaswamy Reddy (45), who was earlier arrested in connection with the claymore mine attack on the former Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, at Alipiri in 2003. The other two were Kishore Kumar (22) and Surender Reddy (28). Electronic gadgets worth Rs. 35 lakhs were seized from their possession. A sarpanch of a village in Chittoor district, Ramaswamy Reddy, was first arrested by the special team investigating into the Alipiri attack on the charge of arranging a mobile phone and Rs. 1 lakh to Maoists. A case was booked against him under the Andhra Pradesh Public Security Act. Subsequently, one more case was registered against him for aiding and abetting the attack. Separate gangs, headed by the arrested, were allegedly operating for the past one year, which had resulted in the loss of nearly Rs. 5 crores to the Department of Telecommunications, the Additional Commissioner of Police, A.K.
