Vijayashanthi likely to launch Telangana outfit

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Telugu film actress Vijayashanti is holding a meeting of her supporters here on Wednesday where she is expected to announce her future political action. Speculation is rife that she might float a new Telangana outfit.

There has been intense speculation over her political future, though technically she continues to be in the BJP. For some time now, she has been showing keen interest in the separate Telangana movement. Describing herself as a "loving daughter of Telangana," she had often been saying that she was prepared to make any sacrifice for the cause of the region and its development.

She had given a call to workers in various political parties for whom the Telangana cause was dear, to attend the meeting.

Volunteers of the "Vijyashanthi Yuva Sena" were making all arrangements. Earlier in the day she met the BJP legislator, G. Kishen Reddy.

Goud dismissive

Reacting to Ms. Vijayashanthi's decision to hold a meeting, the Telugu Desam leader, T. Devender Goud, said the region was magnanimous in accepting whoever made it his or her home.

But nobody had given anything back to the region. It continued to remain backward.

"Hence nobody has a right to exploit politically the sentiments of people of the region."
