Boy run over by

water tanker

NEW DELHI: In a bizarre incident, an 11-year-old boy was allegedly run over by a Delhi Jal Board water tanker in South Delhi. In this third such incident in recent months, the victim, Shree Kant, died on the spot.

According to the police, it all happened in the morning when Shree Kant, the son of Mahadev, a resident of Dakshinpuri in Ambedkar Nagar, was playing on the road.

The driver has been arrested and a case registered at Ambedkar Nagar police station.

Proclaimed offender arrested

NEW DELHI: An alleged proclaimed offender was arrested from this residence at Vasant Vihar in South Delhi. Acting on a tip-off that Mukesh would visit his relatives at his residence in Vasant Vihar, the Delhi Police Crime Branch raided the premises. Though he tried to escape, Mukesh was arrested.

According to the police, Mukesh had been involved in several cases of robbery, murder and kidnapping. When the police foiled a kidnapping attempt way back in 2001, Mukesh had escaped and had worked as a tractor driver for about two years. He then worked in an STD booth in Ghaziabad.

Bootleggers held

NEW DELHI: Two alleged bootleggers were arrested in North Delhi on Monday. A total of 20 cartons of smuggled liquor were allegedly recovered from them.

The two have been identified as Balram (23) and Vickey Kumar (20). According to the police, a patrolling team was tipped off about the suspicious movement of a man on Mall Road in North Delhi. The police team nabbed Balram and recovered 60 full bottles and 120 halves of smuggled liquor from him.

In the second incident, the police arrested Vickey and allegedly recovered 120 bottles of smuggled liquor from him. Two separate cases under the Excise Act have been registered at Maurice Nagar police station.
