THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: : Girls have bagged 16 of the 17 first ranks in the final year B.A. degree examinations of the University of Kerala, the results of which were published on Tuesday. The pass percentage is 63.58. Last year the pass percentage was 55.22. The lone boy who secured a first rank was Anish Kumar of University College, Thiruvananthapuram, for Philosophy. Three other students of this college too secured first ranks; Divya Bala in politics, J. S. Sreeja in Malayalam literature and J. Nadira for Arabic. S. Sowmya Vishwanath, a private candidate, secured first rank in history. The names of other rank winners are given below: English Language and Literature: Padma Chandran (All Saints College); Islamic History: A. J. Sumaiyya (T.K.M. Arts and Science College, Kollam); Economics: Jiji Vijayan (Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvanantha- puram); Psychology: Nirmala U. Kammath (FMN College, Kollam); Sociology: S. Deepa (M.G. College, Thiruvananthapuram); Hindi: V. M. Soumya (Government College for Women, Thiruvananthapuram); Music: Soumya Sanathanan (NSS College for Women, Thiruvananth- apuram); Sanskrit Language and Literature: Aiswarya G. Nath (NSS College, Pandalam); Sanskrit special Vedanta: S. Ambika (S.N. College, Kollam).
