SRINAGAR: The moderate faction of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) on Wednesday accepted Pakistan's invitation to visit that country. It would take the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus on June 2. On its return, the Hurriyat would resume talks with New Delhi if an invitation came. Emerging from a three-hour meeting here, APHC chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq told mediapersons, "a high-level Hurriyat delegation will visit Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. I will formulate the delegation tomorrow [Thursday] and later apply for travel documents.'' Meetings with Pakistan-based militant leadership and politicians would be on top of the agenda, the Mirwaiz said. ``Going to Pakistan will be a big step towards resolving the Kashmir issue. We will try to know what is the stand of [the] people and politicians of Pakistan in getting the Kashmir issue resolved.'' On its return, the Hurriyat would resume talks with New Delhi, but the invitation had to come from India "like it came from Pakistan. We want to become a bridge between India and Pakistan," the Mirwaiz said.
The pro-Independence Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has put off its decision till tomorrow. After a meeting here on Wednesday, chairman Yasin Malik said, "we have discussed the issue but we are consulting our leaders in other parts of the world and will formulate a response tomorrow." The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Forum has accepted the invitation. Its chairman Javed Mir told The Hindu that this was a golden opportunity which came for the first time in 60 years.
