Orders on bail pleas of Raghu, Sundaresa Iyer on May 31

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court is to pass orders on the bail pleas of Raghu and N. Sundaresa Iyer and three others in the Sankararaman murder case on May 31.

Justice S. Sardar Zackria Hussain, hearing the bail petitions of Mr. Raghu, Mr. Iyer, Kathiravan, Meenakshisundaram and Rajini, reserved his orders on Wednesday, after senior counsel for the State, K.T.S. Tulsi, and senior counsel B. Kumar completed their submissions.

The petitioners, denying any involvement in the murder, contended that they harboured no ill-will against Sankararaman, manager of the Varadarajaperumal temple in Kancheepuram, murdered on September 3, 2004.

The detention of Mr. Raghu and Mr. Iyer, along with others, under the provisions of the Goondas Act was set aside by the Madras High Court on May 5.
