Irate villagers lock up officials

Staff Reporter

KARIMNAGAR: Irate villagers of Lakharam in Mahamutharam mandal detained officials of the District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB) when they went to conduct auction of the agricultural land of a farmer, following non-payment of his loan amount on Wednesday.

Bank officials went to the village to conduct auction of A. Shankar Reddy's land. The farmer had taken a loan of Rs 2.5 lakhs from the bank and on Monday had repaid about Rs 40,000 and sought some exemption. After promising some concession, they arrived to auction the land when they were locked up by villagers.
