Tie-up for British degrees

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: An innovative new educational tie-up between the leading British qualifications provider Edexcel and Hamdard University will soon allow students to obtain four British vocational qualifications without ever leaving India.

Speaking at the launch of the partnership here on Wednesday, the Edexcel Director of Innovation and Development, Nicholas Sansome, said "this is a tiered distance learning programme that will be administered by both Edexcel and Hamdard University to provide Indian students with a passport to international success''.

Outlining the degrees on offer, Mr. Sansome said initially students register for a two-year programme which leads to the Higher National Diploma (HND).

Students may then choose to spend another year studying for the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). On completion of BBA, students have the option of continuing with the one-year Diploma in Management Studies.

The fourth degree on offer is at the post-graduate level. Mr. Sansome said the one-year Master of Business Administration would be open to not just Hamdard University students but others as well on a competitive basis.

He added that several universities in the UK, the US and Australia accept students with even the basic HND qualification.
