Illicit liquor seized
Acting on a tip-off that an illegal liquor consignment was being smuggled into the Capital from Haryana, the police laid a trap near Rani Khera village at Sultanpuri. Around 8 p.m., the police team intercepted a tempo suspected to be carrying the consignment, at which three of its occupants, including a woman, got off the vehicle and tried to flee. The police, however, overpowered them and recovered the liquor consignment from the vehicle. The accused were identified as Daleep Kumar, Babloo and Rozi. During interrogation, they allegedly disclosed that they had bought the consignment from Chandigarh.
Chain snatchers held
According to the police, the two accused, Sunny and Vikram Kumar, were arrested during a routine patrol when they were trying to escape on a scooter. At their instance, the police arrested the receiver of stolen property, Sonu. The police said Sunny and Vikram were involved in at least nine cases of snatching.
Medical negligence
Hospital officials said the patient, Ashok, was admitted to the emergency ward earlier this week with pneumonia. On Tuesday night, the nurse on duty allegedly administered him an injection meant for jaundice. Ashok collapsed within an hour. The confusion apparently occurred as the ward reportedly had another patient with the same name admitted with jaundice.
Patient commits suicide
According to hospital sources, Vipin Saxena had been visiting the skin department at AIIMS for treatment. On Wednesday, he came to the hospital again along with his brother Hari Om and wife but was given another date. An upset Vipin then jumped to his death from the fifth floor of the building.
