In its report card on the one-year performance of the UPA Government ("Year of non-performance: NDA," May 25), the NDA has criticised Sonia Gandhi's "extra-constitutional position of power." Ms. Gandhi as chairperson of the National Advisory Council does have a major role to play and there is nothing extra-constitutional about it. Such statements only expose the NDA's Sonia-baiting tendencies.

The NDA's description of the UPA Government's one-year rule as non-performance year is immature. If anything, it is the NDA that should tell the nation what it has done as a responsible Opposition in the last one year.
