Letters to the Editor
The passing away of Sunil Dutt is indeed shocking. Dutt Sahib, as he was affectionately known, was an ambassador of love and peace. He made a mark in every sphere of life. Both in films and in politics, Sunil Dutt was the hero of the masses and the downtrodden. Starting his movie career with Railway Platform, Dutt attained stardom. Waqt, Mera Saaya, Hamraaz, Gumraah, and Padosan were among some of his major hits. He was, without doubt, a prominent Chiraag of Mother India.
Narayan B. Iyer,
Sunil Dutt with a gifted voice started his career as a programme announcer in Radio Ceylon. He went on to become one of the top heroes of Bollywood, whose films concentrated on social themes. Notwithstanding tragedy in personal life, he worked for the uplift of the marginalised, particularly Mumbai's slums dwellers.
R. Sekar,
