Rupee steady

MUMBAI: The rupee ended barely changed on Tuesday against the U.S. currency in extremely quiet and range-bound trading at the interbank foreign exchange market due to lack of clear direction. Closing at 43.5275/5350 a dollar, a shade higher from Wednesday's finish of 43.53/54. It opened steady at 43.53/54 a dollar. Stray exporter sales and unwinding of long dollar positions by banks helped the rupee to edge up against the U.S. currency after absorbing the limited dollar demand even as sentiments remained weak due to rising global oil prices amid a firm dollar overseas, dealers said. World oil prices climbed to over $51 a barrel and was quoted at $51.19 a barrel in Asian trade due to supply concerns. — _ PTI
