HYDERABAD: Peace yagnas for the welfare of people in the country will be conducted under the aegis of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) at Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Karimnagar. The TTD Chairman, T. Subbbarami Reddy, in a statement from Delhi, said the yagnas were being conducted as per suggestions from religious heads and scholars. The yagna at Visakhapatnam would be held for three days from May 28 under the auspices of Sarada Peethadipathi Swamy Swaroopananda Saraswathi. The TTD Chairman, the Executive Officer, members, officials, four MLAs of Visakhapatnam and the Commercial Taxes Minister, K. Ramakrishna, would attend. The yagna at Karimnagar would be held under the aegis of Sri Tridandi Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swamy. Explaining the rationale behind the peace yagnas, he quoted Sarada Peethathipadi as saying that due to certain planetary movements this month, the country would face crises due to violence and from anti-national elements until May 2007. As part of providing amenities to the pilgrims, the TTD was planning to provide air conditioning in the queue complexes and donations would be collected in this regard from devotees. Mr. Reddy said he was donating Rs. 13.5 lakhs for providing the facility. The TTD board would not take any unilateral decisions and seek the suggestions of devotees and intellectuals before making any changes, he added.
