Sarpanches protest against shifting of urban amenities scheme

MIRYALAGUDA (NALGONDA DT.): Sarpanches of various villages around Miryalaguda are up in arms against the Government for allegedly diverting the Provision of Urban Amenities in Rural Areas (PURA) scheme to Rayalasema from this town.

In protest against the Government's reported decision to shift the scheme to Raidurgam, sarpanches have formed `PURA Sadhana Samiti' and called Miryalaguda bandh on June 2. They have also decided to take out a protest rally in the town on June 1 to highlight the issue.

``Owing to grass negligence of the Union Minister, Jaipal Reddy, the scheme was diverted to Rayalaseema. We will fight to get it back,'' the Alagadapa sarpanch, V. Panduranga Rao said.
