PATHANAMTHITTA: The SNDP Yogam general secretary, Vellappally Natesan, has welcomed the LDF decision not to field its candidate against the Congress leader A.K. Antony for the Rajya Sabha seat. Mr. Natesan told reporters at Ranni on Thursday that the nomination of Mr. Antony by the Congress high command for the Rajya Sabha elections was a fitting reply to his critics within the ruling UDF. Mr. Antony's nomination reflected the party high command's endorsement of his `controversial' statement on `minority appeasement,' Mr. Natesan said. Earlier, Mr. Natesan inaugurated the newly built SNDP taluk union building in Ranni. The Travancore Devaswom Board member M.B. Sreekumar presided over the meeting and Swami Satchidananda delivered the benedictory speech.
