TIRUPATI: The golden jubilee national drama festival being conducted by the Sri Venkateswara Natyakala Parishat, in association with Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), would begin here on Friday. The Endowments Minister, M. Satyanarayana Rao, would inaugurate the event to be attended by the Tourism Minister, J. Geeta Reddy, and the Chairman of Cultural Council, Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam. The parishat, a conglomerate of cultural bodies in Tirupati, has been holding the prestigious event every year, in which drama troupes from across the State take part.
`Garuda award'
On the lines of the State Government's `Nandi award', an award in the name of `Garuda', the favourite celestial carrier of Lord Venkateswara would be presented to theatre artistes.
