CUDDAPAH: The Government has sanctioned Rs. 6 crores for road widening, street lighting and augmentation of drinking water supply in Cuddapah town, the Director of Municipal Administration, Vijaya Kumar, said on Wednesday.
The Cuddapah Municipal Corporation and 29 municipalities did not qualify for spending World Bank funds for urban development and hence they would be sanctioned special plan funds of Rs. 3.50 crores each, he said after inspecting the roads, drains and streetlights in Cuddapah town.
Exnora, a private firm, would ensure sanitation and garbage disposal in the Cuddapah Corporation and Proddatur Municipality, he said, while inspecting sanitary conditions in the Housing Board Colony.
Training
Self-help and DWCRA groups functioned poorly in Cuddapah town, Mr. Vijaya Kumar observed and advised civic officials to hold regular meetings with two SHGs and enlighten them on the Government's developmental schemes and revolving fund. Roads would be widened in Cuddapah with people's cooperation, Mr. Kumar said.
