TIRUPATI: The BJP legislative party leader, G. Kishen Reddy, has made little of the victory celebrations conducted by the Congress Governments at the Centre and in the State. "Rythu Rajyam" has turned out to be a myth in the State, he said. Addressing a media conference here on Thursday, he accused the Government of going back on all its poll promises and felt there was nothing worthy to celebrate about. "The Government had diluted the free power scheme, denied Minimum Support Price, arrested and shackled the agitating farmers, failed to disburse ex-gratia to the kin of the farmers who had committed suicide, did not allocate outlays for irrigation projects and restricted the National Food For Work programme only to 92 of the 802 drought-hit mandals. This reflects the Government's failure in meeting the aspirations of the farming community," he said. Mr. Reddy criticised the Government for not arguing its case effectively vis-a-vis irrigation and hydel projects being taken up in Karnataka and Maharashtra. On the recent meeting of the Election promises implementation committee under the headship of the AICC leader, Digvijay Singh, he said that the panel, instead of looking at ways to enforce the assurances, came out with a list of assurances that could not be implemented.
