LAM (GUNTUR): The only Telugu Desam Party MLA, Dhulipalla Narendra, and the Zilla Parishad Chairman, Pathuri Nagabhushnam, boycotted the Rythu Sadassu here on Thursday despite an invitation extended to them to attend. The two elected representatives of the TDP told The Hindu that they did not approve of the alleged selective invitation to farmers supporting the Congress and hence decided not to attend the sadassu. However, they had not restricted any of the farmers from going there. "Had the Government arranged more number of buses, the TDP supporters also would have come for the awareness programme," said Mr. Narendra. Both of them, however, clarified that the party had not given any boycott call and that it was their own decision. They said that there was neither any difference of opinion with the party president, Makineni Pedarattaiah, nor were there groups within the party. On organising two press conferences on the same day at the same time on the same subject at two different places, Mr. Narendra said the aim of the party leaders was to oppose the `wrong' and `anti-farmer' policies of the Congress Government and they could use any forum to express their views. Since the district unit of the party had not invited them to the press conference, they chose to organise one in Zilla Parishad guesthouse.
