VIJAYAWADA: Having become an all-India player by covering 1,350 towns, the Tata Teleservices Limited has ambitious plans to reach out to greater number of customers and increase its market share in the State. The company plans to extend its services to 100 towns in addition to the existing 225 in the next few months. The Chief Operating Officer (Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh) of Tata Teleservices Limited, Prabhat Pani, told The Hindu on Thursday that the company would be constantly expanding its base by adding one to two towns every week for extending various products. By this time last year, the company had a reach of only 20 towns in the State, but the coverage significantly increased to 225 towns now. In just three to four months, the company added 30 to 35 towns to the list of new places. Mr. Pani said operations were afoot to consolidate and grow in the 12 new circles, most of these were falling under the eastern and northern parts of the country. "We are focusing on catching up with competition. In Andhra, we were present in 185 towns by January this year. Now our presence has gone up tremendously. We want to add 100 more towns in the near future," he said. Mr. Pani said that after Hyderabad, the Vijayawada area was the biggest one for their company's operations. There was complete coverage of Tata Teleservices Limited in the entire coastal belt. In the coming months, 80 towns would be covered additionally as part of the company's marketing plans. Mr. Pani said its share on fixed line was 11 per cent. From the fixed line, the company moved to CDMA services.
