VIJAYAWADA: Arrangements are being made on a large scale for the Krishna district rythu sadassu to be held at Swaraj Maidan here on June 5 and 6. The Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, will inaugurate the two-day agricultural jamboree. District level heads of agriculture and allied departments like horticulture, sericulture, animal husbandry, fisheries, irrigation, Transco, Water Management Agency and representative of the District Lead Bank met on Tuesday to discuss the arrangements needed to feed and transport about 4,000 farmers and 6,000 others during these two days. Farmers who took an active part in the Rythu Chaithanya Yatra, members of Rythu Mithra groups and beneficiaries of the Indira Prabha scheme will be invited for the two-day sadassu. The officials short-listed the names of persons who will be on the various sub-committees to be finalised by the District Collector. An organising committee was formed with the Collector as chairman and heads of departments as members. Sub-committees have been proposed for reception, exhibition, publicity, cultural, transport, food, dais and public address system, drinking water, sanitation and asset distribution. The officials discussed the pros and cons of utilising the stalls built for the Industrial and Agricultural Exhibition for the rythu sadassu.
