`AIADMK, DMK spent huge money in byelections'

Staff Reporter

MADURAI: The National Executive Committee member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Member of Parliament, S. Thirunavukarasar on Thursday charged both the All-India Anna Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam and the Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam with spending huge money in the recently held byelections in Kancheepuram and Gummindipoondi.

Addressing party cadres here at a demonstration to condemn the dissolution of the Bihar Assembly, Mr. Thirunavukarasar said that the country had now more than one Prime Minister. "Apart from Manmohan Singh, a non-functioning PM, the Congress supreme, Sonia Gandhi, the Rashtriya Janata Dal leader, Lalu Prasad, and the DMK president, M. Karunanidhi, were the other Prime Ministers''.

Dr. Singh was neither elected by the people nor selected by the parliamentarians of his party but only nominated by Sonia Gandhi, he added.

The MP also questioned the logic behind dissolving the Bihar Assembly overnight, by disturbing the president who was on an official visit to Moscow. "Was the country facing a war situation for the President to sign the paper and fax it from Russia, that too at midnight," he asked.
