THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) suspects that certain staff members at the Protector Of Emigrant's (POE) office were warned of the surprise inspection minutes before the CBI team entered the office on Wednesday evening. Official sources said that a caucus involving certain travel agents and some staff members were responsible for the corruption at the POE's office. The CBI believes that Rs.1,000 and upward were sought as illegal gratification from those seeking emigration clearance. The CBI today questioned some travel agents in connection with the surprise check.
