Man robbed of ornaments, cash in Cottonpet

BANGALORE: Two armed men waylaid an employee of a powerloom and robbed him of gold ornaments and cash in Cottonpet police station limits on Tuesday night.

According to a complaint filed by Sharath Babu of Cubbonpet with the police on Wednesday, two men waylaid him on Tank Bund Road, off Agrahara Gate, around 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday.

They threatened him with a knife and robbed him of a gold chain and a ring, together worth Rs. 20,000, and cash.

The Cottonpet police have registered a case.

Cash stolen

A thief cut open the handbag of an advocate who was travelling by a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus and stole Rs. 13,000 in cash.

According to a complaint lodged by M.R. Suma with the Wilson Garden police, the incident took place on Monday when she was travelling by a bus bound for Attibele from Shanthinagar.

Burgled

Thieves broke into Hindustan Engineering Works on Link Road in Malleswaram police station limits in the early hours of Thursday and made away with Rs. 5,000 in cash.

According to a police complaint lodged by the proprietor of the unit, Narayana Bhat, the thieves entered the building by breaking open the rolling shutters.

The Malleswaram police have registered a case.

Three arrested

The MICO Layout police have arrested three persons who had allegedly encroached on a site belonging to the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) in BTM Layout by forging the documents and constructed a three-storey building.

The names of those arrested were given as Firoze Pasha, Afroze Pasha and Gulab Pasha, all residents of Gurappanapalya. The Assistant Executive Engineer of the BDA, Krishnappa, had lodged a complaint against the three.

Seized

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) officials on Wednesday arrested four persons on charges of selling fake automobile oil and lubricants under a leading brand name.

The police seized oil and lubricants worth Rs. 50,000 from them.

The police said the accused — Arun Kumar (20), Prakash (35), Afroze (32) and Shivaram (23) — were selling the fake products at shops in Madivala and Subramanyanagar police station limits.

Man found murdered

A 70-year-old man was found murdered in Subramanyapura police station limits on Thursday.

The victim was identified as Putte Gowda of Doddakallasandra.

A case has been registered.

Body found

In another incident, the body of a 23-year-old woman was found in Varthur police station limits.

The police said the victim might have been murdered on Wednesday and the body dumped at Varthur.

The identity of the woman was not known. Her left hand had a tattoo with the name "Renuka."

The police said those having any information about the woman can contact the Varthur police station or the Bangalore Rural police.
