NEW DELHI: A teaching institute owner was arrested at Shakarpur by the Special Staff of the East Delhi police on Wednesday on charges of supplying forged school and college marksheets and degrees to his students. According to the police, the Special Staff received a tip-off that one Sahil Teaching College on Vikas Marg was providing fake certificates and marksheets to its students. The institute was being run by Mushir Khan, a resident of Preet Vihar. Subsequently, a decoy customer was sent to strike a deal with Mushir for a Class X certificate. Mushir allegedly demanded Rs. 10,000 for the document and asked the decoy to collect it on Wednesday. The police laid a trap and arrested Mushir when he was handing over the certificate to their man. Investigations revealed that he had been posing as a Ph.D. holder from Jamia Millia University to lure students into getting enrolled in courses like management, law, graduation and post-graduation offered by his institute. After "completion" of their classes, he provided them degrees purportedly issued from universities located in areas like Bundelkhand and Jhansi. Mushir would get advertisements published in leading newspapers inviting students to join his institute. To avoid detection, he had kept signature impressions of authorised signatories of different universities to use them in the certificates through scanning. The police said most of those cheated by Mushir were girls. During the raid, they recovered several fake degrees and certificates, duplicate stamps and other articles. Further investigations are on.
