Five die as lorry overturns

HUBLI: Five persons were killed and 60 injured when a lorry overturned near Shiraguppi in Hubli taluk on Friday evening.

The victims were returning to Honnapur in Ron taluk after attending a marriage in Hubli. While four persons died on the spot, one died in hospital.

The names of the victims were given as Muttappa Hiremath (50), Nagappa Kanti (35), Siddappa Belavanaki (50), and Revanna Lakkannavar (50). The person who died in the hospital has not been identified. Sources said the accident occurred when the driver lost control over the lorry while approaching a bridge near Shiraguppi.
