Canadian ship calls at Kochi port

KOCHI: Canadian Navy's HMCS Winnipeg, a frigate, arrived at Kochi Carrying 33 officers and 209 sailors, the ship anchored at Wellingdon Island here while on its voyage from Singapore to Bahrain.

The Command Intelligence Officer at the Southern Naval Command (SNC) here, Captain Ajith Kumar, said the visit was quite an event since no Canadian ship had called at Kochi during recent times. HMCS Winnipeg is a halifax-class frigate which can be armed with missiles, torpedos etc.
