Meet on paddy procurement

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Food Minister, Adoor Prakash, has convened a conference of the presidents and secretaries of cooperative societies engaged in procuring paddy at the Kanakakunnu Palace here on May 30.

It is as a follow up of the FCI's reported undertaking to buy the paddy from the societies, convert it into rice and distribute it through the public distribution system at talks held with its top officials by the Food Secretary and the Civil Supplies Director of Kerala.The societies had procured 40,000 tonnes of paddy till May 3.
