THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The tax deducted at source (TDS) and the Tax Collection at Source (TCS) returns of corporate and Government deductions would not be accepted at the Income Tax Office in future. The Commissioner of Income Tax, Thiruvananthapuram, said on Friday that the move follows the making the filing of TDS returns in digital format mandatory by all Government and corporate deductors. The annual TDS returns for 2004-'05 which were to be filed by June 30 should be filed by the Government deductors in electronic format at any of the TIN (Tax Information Network) facilitation centres, particulars of which are available at www.incometaxindia.gov.in and www.tin-nsdl.com. The TIN facilitation centres in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam are: Integrated Enterprises (India) Ltd., Thiruvananthapuram, Tel: 2461593, Karvy Consultants Ltd., Thiruvananthapuram, Tel: 2725987, Shell Transource Ltd., Thiruvananthapuram, Tel: 2323760, 3101712 and Karvy Consultants, Kollam, Tel: 2768327. If a person fails to furnish the annual return in due time, he shall be liable to pay by way of penalty under Section 272A, a sum which shall be Rs.100/- for every day during which the failure continues. With a view to computerise the TDS functions, a new procedure has been introduced for deductions made on or after April 1, 2005.
