CUDDAPAH: Contractual electricity workers locked up the Transco SE office and staged a dharna before it on Friday, preventing employees from entering it. Their protest was against non-payment of salaries for the last seven months to contract workers working in 105 electrical sub-stations in the district. Addressing them, the CITU general secretary, N. Ravisankar Reddy, accused officials of being lackadaisical despite agitations over the last three months, seeking salary arrears. Mr. Reddy alleged collusion between officials and contractors and threats to remove employees. He demanded blacklisting of erring contractors. The United Electricity Employees Union district president, D. Narasimhulu, secretary, Ramesh, and treasurer, Pullaiah, led the protest.
