COIMBATORE: A.G. Ponn Manickavel, on Friday ,took charge as the Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore Rural District, in the place of R. Dhinakaran, who has been transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police, Theni district. On assuming office, he said that the emphasis would be on turning the police into a public-friendly force. Even those brought to the police station for enquiry would be provided a seat before questioning them, he said. The SP said that his new mobile number would be made known to the public to enable them interact directly with him.
