Galleries opened

KOCHI: Galleries of mural art and ancient history were opened at Hill Palace Museum, Thripunithura. A.P. Anilkumar, Minister for Cultural Affairs, opened the galleries. Journal 2005 published by the Centre for Heritage Studies was also released at the function. — Staff Reporter

SFI protest

KOCHI: The SFI district secretariat protested against the distribution of hand-written question papers for the Engineering Mathematics paper I supplementary examination at Cochin University of Science and Technology. The organisation also charged that some students were issued hall tickets only on the eve of the examination. A comprehensive inquiry should be conducted into the incidents, a statement by T.V. KOCHI: The Department of Posts, India, in association with Western Union Financial Services, has launched 24-hour service for payout of money sent from foreign countries through Western Union Money Transfer at the Speed Post Centre on the Ernakulam Head Post Office premises. With the launching of the facility, customers can collect their payments any time including holidays. New block

KOCHI: A new block will be constructed for the Ernakulam district Collectorate spending Rs. 3 crores. The foundation stone for the new building will be laid as part of the fourth anniversary of the UDF Government. A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting convened at Collectrate on Friday. The inauguration of the Eastern gate of the South Railway station, P.H Centre, Cheranalloor and foundation stone laying for Varapuzha bus stand will be done before June 16. — Staff Reporter
