HYDERABAD:
The International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) project for managing pigeon pea pod borer through the production and use of the bio pesticide nuclear polyhedrosis virus (NPV) has won the World Bank's Development Marketplace Award for 2005.
The project titled `traditional technology with a modern twist' was among the 31 projects selected through global competition by World Bank for this year's award. The ICRISAT and its partner Center for World Solidarity (a Hyderabad-based NGO) would receive US $150,000 for establishing 100 community-based rural NPV production facilities, according to a press release.
