THIRUVANTHAPURAM: A 24-year-old youth, Thasim Ahammed, was electrocuted when he came into contact with a snapped electric wire which was lying on the road at Vettikkodu, near Kappil, in Varkala police station limits early on Friday, the police said. The electric wire had snapped in the rain and wind on Thursday night when a tree branch fell on it. The youth was going on his bicycle to collect newspaper bundles for delivery at around 5 a.m. when the accident occurred. Thasim is the son of Hashim, a Gulf returnee. The police have registered a case.
