Governor to discuss "yatra" with Mufti
Staff Reporter
JAMMU:
Jammu and Kashmir Governor Lt. Gen. (retd) S.K. Sinha on Saturday said he would discuss the Amarnath Yatra issue with Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed.
Speaking to reporters here, the Governor said: ``I took over as chairman of the Amarnath Shrine Board in 2003 and since then the yatra is being held in a peaceful manner. And, this year also I am hopeful that the pilgrimage will be held in the same manner. The Chief Minister has made a statement regarding the duration of the yatra and he [Chief Minister] should meet me to discuss the issue. The Chief Minister has some security considerations and even this aspect would be discussed at the meeting. There is no conflict between me and Mr. Sayeed over the issue. I have cordial relations with him.''
The Governor said the yatra would start on June 21.
