NEW DELHI: : The Federation of All-India Petroleum Dealers (FAIPT) on Saturday warned that it would go on an indefinite nationwide strike from July 18 if the Government failed to redress its longstanding grievances. In a statement issued here, it said retail outlets would also be closed on June 20 to draw the Government's attention to its demands. The petroleum dealers have sought a commission on a percentage basis of five per cent on invoice value, besides implementation of the accord signed and agreed by the oil industry. Federation president Ashok Badhwar said that even after repeated requests to the Government and the oil industry, the traders had not received any relief or affirmative action on issues such as fixing dealers' commission on a percentage basis. He recalled that petrol pumps had been closed on April 18 to protest against the oil industry's unresponsive behaviour. The committee of directors constituted at the behest of Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar submitted its report on July 2004, but till now the dealers' margin had not been finalised.
