BANGALORE: The response that candidates received from some of the leading IT and BPO companies participating in The Hindu Opportunities Fair 2005 was a mark of its success. Many IT and business process outsourcing (BPO) companies shortlisted candidates on the first day. Cognizant Technology Solutions, a leading offshore outsourcing company, recruited 100 candidates straight away. Cognizant, the main sponsor of the event, conducted written tests and interviews for both fresh and experienced candidates at the venue. The selected candidates will be intimated shortly and absorbed in the company, said R. Ram Kumar, Director, Corporate Marketing and Communications. The company delivers a wide range of application outsourcing, business process, and consultation and systems integration services. "We are looking for graduates who possess one to four years' experience. The company has an open mind on screening candidates." "There is a vast pool of technology students in Bangalore. It has selected 12 candidates at the mid-level position and intends to recruit 200 more personnel on the second day of the event. The company is looking for candidates who have experience in transmission and distribution (T&D) work, according to Prabhu Arumugan, Executive (Human Resources). Molex India Ltd., the world's second largest electronic, electrical, and fiber optic interconnect systems, handled about 2,000 resumes till noon. GVR Electro Technics Ltd. is searching for candidates for chip designing in the research and development wing of the firm. Around 20,000 candidates registered their names at the stall.
