Two new National records

BANGALORE: Haryana's Rajesh Kaliramana and West Bengal's Jhuma Khatun set new National records in the National youth athletic championship at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium here on Saturday.

Rajesh improved on his own mark of 2.04m in the boys' high jump event while Jhuma Khatum topped S. Gurnule's record of six years in the girls' 1,500m event. Gurnule had clocked 4:41.19 for the middle distance event while Jhuma stopped the clock at 4:38.42.

The results: Boys: 10km walk: 1. Ajay Rathi (Har) 53:53.41; 2. Hari Ram Yadav (UP) 55:45.08; 3. M Singh (Mpr) 56:17.37. 110m hurdles: 1. Ashok Kumar (UP) 14.55 (NMR); 2 Tanaka Roy (WB) 14.73; 3. Dinesh Oraon (WB) 14.79 (OMR 14.59). High jump: 1. Rajesh Kaliramana (Har) 2.08 (NR); G.S. Sarath (Ker) 1.98; 3. Ajay Pal Singh (Pun) 1.88 (ONR 2.04);
