GODAVARIKHANI (KARIMNAGAR DT): Attributing the decline in naxalite violence in Telangana region to "people-friendly policing,'' the Director-General of Police, Swaranjit Sen, has said a similar approach will be adopted in the Nallamala forest and elsewhere. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Mr. Sen said people-friendly policing was the future of the police.
Better policing
He said in north Telangana districts police have been curbing the naxalite violence with their strong and better people-friendly policing. He said the naxalite violence during the last five months had increased in the State, but the police had effectively tackled it.
Unmanned aircraft
The Government was also contemplating introducing unmanned aircraft to curb the naxalite violence in the State. The DGP said that the unarmed aircraft were best to rely on rather than satellite imaging which was presently being used. However, he said it was a very expensive system and the Government was examining the posssibility of procuring the aircraft. To a question said Mr. Sen said reimposition of ban on naxalites was not a police subject at all.
