Addresses Japanese trade team, extends all possible help to entrepreneurs

NEW DELHI: The Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, on Saturday said that his Government would extend all possible help and cooperation to enterprising foreigners who want to set up shop in the State.

Addressing a Japanese trade delegation led by Ambassador Yasukuni Enoki here in the Capital, he said Haryana was the first in the country to achieve 100 per cent electrification. "Haryana had recently commissioned the seventh and eighth units of the Panipat Thermal Plant and this will add 500 MW of power to the State,'' he added.

Looking at projected increases in power requirements, Mr. Hooda said a new power plant with 600MW capacity was under construction in Yamunanagar. Power is not the only aspect of infrastructure that the State was investing in to attract foreign investment.

"We are also in the process of constructing the 135 km Western Peripheral Expressway linking National Highways 1, 2, 8 and 10 to ensure that the hinterland is opened to investors,'' said Mr. Hooda. The drive to improve access and communications includes the extension of the Delhi Metro to Gurgaon. Mr. Hooda also affirmed his Government's "determination to provide a peaceful and friendly industrial climate''. Citing the success of the Japanese car manufacturer Suzuki, the Chief Minister expressed the hope that other Japanese companies would follow suit and invest in Haryana.
